A Day at the Zoo

This weekend Bear has been BEAR. It's been ugly and it's been brutal. So Andrew and I decided to reward the bad behavior with a trip to the zoo.

Just a side note, our new upstairs neighbors are either deaf or just very bad citizens - they listened to Bear scream "Let go of me!" for roughly an hour last night without calling the police. And in case you're thinking of picking up the phone, it was 2am and Andrew was trying to rub her back to calm her down. She DID NOT want to go to bed.

Anyway, the zoo's Flutterby butterfly exhibit opened this weekend. So just to forewarn you, the is a picture heavy post ahead. The exhibit is fantastic, as long as you don't count the five minutes spent in a very cramped, very hot, very small entry way listening to the rehearsed introduction. Claustrophobia anyone?

1 in 35 will have a butterfly land on them. This one landed on Bear as soon as we walked in the door.

The best part of the butterfly exhibit? The stamps at the end.

Crouching flamingo, hidden beak.

Getting a better look at the 'mingos.

Why do I bother to bathe her again?

The flamingos are always my favorite part of the zoo, first thing you see at the San Diego zoo when you enter, plus they are PINK.

Those butterflies though are awesome. I don't see many of them in NY, black flies Yes, butterflies not so much

Looks like you had a great time! We do the same thing. Reward the bad behavior. Sometimes a change of pace and scenery snaps them right out of it!

Oohhh the Zoo! Perfect reward for bad behavior. Who can hold in a smile when they see a Butterfly? ::Crossing fingers:: that the trip changed someone's mood...
