My husband's cousins are in India, adopting a little girl. Her name is Maya and she is five years old. When she was two or three she was found wandering the streets, alone. Dan and Rhonda will give her a wonderful home with two brothers, a sister, and lots of loving extended family.

Today, they took physical custody of Maya. She said goodbye to all her friends and teachers and happily accompanied her new American mommy and daddy away from all she has ever known. Later that night, she realized that she will not, in fact, be going back to what has essentially always been her home.

If you feel like sobbing, you can read all about it here.

Oh how very touching! I'm sure that she will adjust and begin to feel like the old world she knew was just a dream that she did indeed wake from. Please keep us posted!

Very bitter sweet. Thanks for sharing it with us. I'm glad they are dealing with the grief so well.

what a wonderful story -- a lucky girl to find a mom and dad even tho she will miss India.
